Coronary heart disease is still the largest single cause of death in Australia.
There are a number of risk factors for heart disease. These can be separated into two groups. Modifiable risk factors and Unmodifiable risk factors.
Modifiable risk factors are:
• Atherosclerosis
• High Blood Cholesterol
• High Blood Pressure
• Overweight / Obesity
• Diabetes
• Smoking
• Stress and Negative emotionsUnmodifiable Risk Factors are:
• Age
• Gender
• Family History
Modifiable risk factors are the ones we have control over to change, where as the unmodifiable risk factors, we cannot change. Most of our risk factors are modifiable, which gives us the power to control these to reduce our chances of developing CAD.
The more risk factors you have greater your chances of developing CAD. We believe no matter what your risk factors are or how many risk factors you have, you can change these by taking positive attitude towards life and adapting a positive mind set to eliminate your chances of developing heart disease or any other disease or illness.
Regular physical exercises with a healthy diet and a positive mind set is the key to good health. We also emphasis the importance to increasing your oxygen levels in your blood with proper deep breathing. Many people take very shallow breaths, which results in lower concentration of oxygen in your blood.
Drinking water is one of the many healthy habits we promote in our wellness program. Water is essential to our bodies. 60 -70% of our body is water. Yet, many people drink very little water. Water intake does not include drinking coffee, tea, soft drinks or any other drinks. It has to be WATER!
